A change in the living room...

This one is the 'Man-Child's' fault...

There has been a change in the living room and I just adore it~!

On Sunday, the 'Man-Child' was surfing the internet and came across an ad for a beautiful couch and a loveseat set...

The add read:

"Custom Sofa and Loveseat"
"Beautiful HIGH END CUSTOM Sofa/Loveseat set - Brocade Fabric with extremely comfortable DOWN cushions - Hand Carved Wood Frame. Extra Large and Extra Elegant for a formal setting. Purchased 10 years ago for $9,000.00. We are moving to a home that they will not fit in. Our loss is your gain...
$125.00 OBO"

I nearly fainted~!

I grabbed my phone and dialed the # and the seller still had the set ~ Oh, Yay~!!!

We scheduled the pickup appointment for Monday evening and the owner was nice enough to help load the set into our horse trailer too. It took us 2.5 hours travel time to get to the town where the furniture was located and the road trip there and back was a fun one, as always. We enjoyed the scenery all the way. It was a great adventure. And, the furniture is GORGEOUS, just as it appears and yes, it was only $125.00.
 (I'm still pinching myself...)

The sofa is in the living room now and the love seat, that came with it, is in storage for one of the upstairs bedrooms, if I ever really get stairs - it's so weird to live in a house with no stairs to the upstairs. But, I still dream someday I'll have those stairs~!
Until then...
I can sit on this beautiful, comfortable, dreamy sofa and dream about some stairs, right?

You know how when you go for a gallon of paint and come home with a new chandelier?

I'm having one of those kinds of days~

I finally got everything 'hunted & gathered' to begin the bathroom remodel.
I found a bunch of old, rusty, galvanized steel from an old, delapidated shed, off an old homestead owned by a family member, for my bathroom remodel - it was the last thing I needed...

I went into Home Depot to have some paint mixed to start the bathroom...

And the "Man-Child" wandered off and found some treasure~!

A living room chandelier on clearance, with a little crack on it that the lighting manager marked 50% off the $100 clearance price. We got this monster for a STEAL and the little crack was easily repaired with a bit of paint.

And of course, we had to get an entry way light to match ~ it was also on clearance for a song...

$100 for brand new living room lighting ~ beautiful, on clearance, living room lighting ~
It's a no-brainer~!

I'm going tomorrow for one more light to the series, that's on clearance too, to go in the 'someday add-on / stair case'...

Gee, we were going to start the bathroom remodel today, but we got distracted by some things "Bright & Shiny"~!

I reckon this is gonna hurt a little...

Boy, that's a famous statement around here...

I've had a few requests to show some 'close ups' of some of the decor in my living room...

This room is so dark and cozy that it's hard to get pics of. But, this morning, the sun was shine'in through one of the entryway windows laying a perfect light on one of my leather walls, so here's a little taste of a bit of the living room decor...

It's VERY Western... It fits our personalities. It's leather and lace and hand carved pine...

The pic is a black & White of the 'Man-Child's' dad's hat, rope and boots. He passed away 7 years ago and right after, the 'Man-Child's' older brother had this photo taken for the sons in the family. There's an old grainery on his property with a hitching post the sons use to tie their horses to, to shoe them. He staged the pic with the grainery in the background and the belongings on the post ~ pretty neat picture to have to remember him by...

It was a fitting location for a black and white of their fathers most precious possessions (the hat, the boots and the ropes...) It's one of the most valued pics in the living room. It is very sentimental and the pic is in an old, wood, scruffy frame deliberately. It just suits the photo well...

The faux, leather walls were a fun project. I gave a short synopsis of how I done them when I first started this blog and you can revisit the blog post here: Faux Leather Walls you have to read through the whole blog post... sorry~ I need to redo that someday... <wink>

The 'Man-Childs' favorite cowboy hat hangs on on old, rusty nail on one of the big, rough sawn, pine beams in the room and I collect a few spurs... They are scattered around the room in the hutches and cabinets.

I'll never regret doing the walls in here to look like old, book leather ~ they are awesome and nobody has anything like it.

They're quite a conversation starter to any new company that comes in the house. They look & feel like the  real deal...

As the sun moves further & further to the South for the Winter, it will start shining into the living room again. Then, I'll be able to get better pics of the living room with better light.

I hope you have enjoyed the "sneak peek"...

There will be more to come soon~!

And it's ok to admire that big Horse son,

but saddle that small one anyway...
