Feed the monster ~ Buy the crocheted, antique, bedspread Jen...

I did it~!

I bought this beautiful, antique bedspread at an antique store for $100 a week ago... It is huge - the biggest one I could find at 90" x 90". I sold some sheep just to go antiquing and only spent a hundred bucks...

I have been dreaming of a white one. A white one to match my new white trim that I'm not finished painting yet...

I'm getting closer though (well, not really ~ But, a girl can dream)...
I did however get the exterior door to the hot tub painted white...

And, the interior entry door painted white with the vintage crystal door knob and back plates installed..

I need to order some antiquing medium, or dark wax to patina everything and make it look old, because it is old, it just has new paint...
(A concept men will never understand *wink*)

We got the yucky old retro fan light down and a flush mount light in its place. You don't even notice this new light above the canopy now - it really blends right in and it was only $40 from Home Depot.

~ That took a full day because we had to tear the bed canopy apart and move it out of the way ~

The new flush mount light has 9 year, energy efficient bulbs. I'm hoping we don't have to take the canopy apart for another 9 years. That would be wonderful because it's beasty to tear apart~!

I'm still waiting on the new / old chandelier to arrive that will go in the corner above the dresser. The sweet lady fixing it for me has  been really, really busy and so have I...

I have been busy working & treasure hunting for a pure white, antique, crocheted cotton throw for my bed.
Which I have found...

And also busy with a lot of landscaping projects, moving an old garage and much, much more, so stay tuned...

There are a few awesome blog posts I'll be doing in the near future about my latest adventures at this old farm. But, for right now... I'm going to go in and roll around on my new, antique bedspread...

 Because I can...

Did you know the best way to keep an antique doily bedspread in good shape is to use it often? It keeps the stitches and thread pliable and keeps it from getting stiff.

Did you know that if you put an old, antique, crocheted cotton doily bedspread in a conventional washer, you'll ruin the fringe?
It gets all tangled up, so hand wash only!

While I'm laying on my new / old white bedspread with a smile on my face. Enjoying the victory of finding one this big. I'll be staring at my beautiful dresser...

At the beautiful satin, screened plaques that my best friend sent me all the way from Wisconsin...

That are perched upon a brass, dresser mirror that I got at a thrift store for $0.75
(Ya, 3 quarters - it was a STEAL)

On top of a beautiful, crocheted, fringed runner that I got at an antique store for $6...

And smile and gloat over my new, white, built in, Entryway Mirrors...

That the 'Man-Child' built for me last month...

And dream about getting the other half of my bedroom painted and finished soon. But, still feel accomplished because this half is DONE~!

And, dream about the whole room (both sides) looking as beautiful as this room someday~!

This room pic is off of a FB yardsale page.
It was an advertisement for an antiques store that's inventory was for sale recently.

Isn't it beautiful?
I just had to share it...

HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY TODAY~!

I'm actually thinking about maybe opening that paint and finishing my room soon...

    1. I'm loving it too~!
I've never had so much white in a bedroom. It is very refreshing, but I'm still trying to get used to the gleaming bright light that happens as soon as any sunlight hits the room. It's like one of those commercials that are in the dark and then, the light suddenly comes on and it's a spotlight.
I think I might need some shades before the summer sun changes in the sky ~ lol

I hope you're having a beautiful (and warm) Spring. I'm freezing and the wind is still blowing here> It has been so, so windy this year...
I hope you have a wonderful rest of the week!

  3. That crocheted bedspread is stunning! I wonder if you had a front load washer if you could machine wash it. A friend has one and it seems to be much more gentle on fabrics cuz it doesn't agitate, just tumbles. Just thinking about hand washing a 90 x 90 bedcover. :-)

    1. I don't know a thing about the front load machines?
Yep - this one is HEAVY dry. I figured I would just hand wash it 'outside' by the clothesline and then hang it on the clothesline when done. I love the smell of clothes off a clothesline.
It's the fringe that's the difficulty. Although, this one has short fringe. I would never dare try - lol
If you get brave and try it someday, let me know how that works out Marci - (chickening out here...)

  4. then it's necessary that the selection bed sheets online
of washing respects this quality. If the incorrect detergent is employed or in incorrect amounts, then even the most effective cotton linen can gray, home bedding
    significantly in bound water environments.
