Repurpose an old linen into a "Possible's Bag"...

I'm such a vintage linen hoarder that sometimes, I have to figure out a way to re-purpose some of them for use, or they just keep adding up.

I often come across embroidered runners for dressers, or curio cabinets. I appreciate the work that went into the embroidery on them and I know somebody once cherished them. It's in some ways a shame to get them for a quarter, or fifty cents, but who could walk past such a treasure?

Folding them into a linen cabinet does me no good and sometimes, well, I just need a bag - like a 'yah bag,; or what I call a "Possibles Bag..."

It's possible to put anything in them...
If I'm going on the truck with the "Man-Child," I stuff one full of my clothes, a hair brush and my wallet.

If I'm picking squash, or carrots in the garden, it's easy to stuff one full for a neighbor.

What a fun thing to get in the mail full of get well treasures, or on a Birthday, full of farm fresh eggs, pickled beets and a homemade loaf of bread with honey butter.

And, I actually just use vintage thrift store sheets, or perhaps a panel of a beautiful thrifted curtain I find, for pennies while treasure hunting, to make the insert, the back and the straps...

I figure in total, they only cost a couple of dollars each, if that and they only take a few minutes to sew together.

If you cut the embroidered runners in half, they make 2 bags...
I sew up a stack and then I can use them in a pinch, to deliver something important to somebody important who will appreciate their beauty.

It's easy to get creative with a stack of linens and a stack of old thrifted curtains.

And, if you're lucky enough to browse through an antique's shop that has cutter lace and linen's for only a few pennies - then your imagination and the sky is your only limit~!

There's always a possible's bag in a piece of cutter lace and some feed sack fabric...

What a perfect 'heavyweight' combination - feed sack size - to take a couple of bottles of wine to a casual dinner, a gift for the hostess, or bring some cucumbers and zucchini to a neighbor, or keep on your shoulder to fill with goodies at your local farmers market.

The possibilities for a "Possible's Bag" are endless~~~
And, it's really fun to put the old linens to a re-purposed, new use.

There are many things to be made out of a stash of embroidered treasures. It's fun to create 'useable' things, so the needle work can be enjoyed.

It was an Awesome Rainy Day for "Junkin"...

I am so grateful for this rain...
It's been going non-stop for nearly 2 hours and we sure needed it - thank you Mother Nature~!

A 'Rainy Day' makes for an awesome 'Junkin' Day'...

I had to run to town for a few groceries and of course I stopped into the thrift store ~
You just never know what treasure might be there waiting for you and today was one of those pretty great days!

These are my favorite find ~ 2 brass, glass and marble, intricate candle stick holders. They're pretty & they're heavy. Would you believe they cost me $2 each? $4 for the set...

They're really pretty and they match my Western living room...
Now, I get to start hunting for an antique chandelier for that room to match~!

And then, there was this little bunch...
I'll probably only use the soap dish & the liquid soap bottle.
Just in case I change my mind though - it's nice to have the whole set ~
The Blue Rose bathroom ensemble was $4 for everything.
(The toothbrush cup has a small chip & the liquid soap bottle is missing the pump - no biggie though)

And, the 'Daher Decorated Whare' collectors bowl was only $1.50...
It's a pretty one, with that vintage blue that will match my vintage blue tub!

And I found 2, new, 27" x 13" linen runners for $1 a piece...

Total Cost of today's Treasure Hunting = $11.50

What goodies did you find this week?

Eye candy at an antique's mall~ Soooooo much to see~!

Sadly, we had to attend a family members funeral on Saturday up North (Northern Utah)...  After the services, we were coming back through Sprinville and I seen "Treasures Antique Mall"~ again... I've seen it over and over in our trips to the 'Big City,' for years now and I've always wanted to go peek around, but I never seem to have the time.

Well Saturday, we made the time ~ Yay...
Holy Wow~!!!

A person could get lost in those 2 buildings all day ~ perhaps, all week. Awesome collections, but sadly, not many "primitiques," as I call them (Primitive Antiques) in my price range. I'm quite strict on my penny pinching, so I don't just buy impulsively. I did however acquire 2 vintage rolling pins and a wood mallet for my old crock I'll soon be moving into the kitchen (when I figure out where to put it in the kitchen)...

They did have some awesome things though and some memorable things to add to my bucket list.
You would all be proud of me ~ I didn't buy one piece of lace...
(Is that even allowed? Not even a doilly~!)
But, I did pet it all. And, I did enjoy walking around looking at all of it~!

One of my favorite things...
Pretty pricey, but fun to look at.
Wouldn't these just be lovely on any patio, or by any front door?

This antique light would be gorgeous in my living room?
But, sadly, it hadn't been converted to electrical and I just couldn't talk my better half into doing it for me right now.
So, I took a picture to remember it by and kept on looking...

And then this cute little 'chippy' drop side table.
This would be so CUTE on a porch. I just couldn't bring myself to
pull the trigger on the price listed, but I will make a mental note and
find a similar one, when my porch is finished...

There wasn't alot of crocheted lace bed linens, but that one
tucked in the back there on the left, the 'pinwheel pattern' just
nearly came home with me.
But, on a thorough inspection, there was just too big of a stain
on one side for my taste and for the price ~
But oh' did I ponder the possibility of it draped at the foot of an upstairs bed...

And when I turned the corner and seen this treasure chest,
my heart fluttered...
But sadly, there was a board across the top so what I thought would be a 'treasure chest' of linens to dig through and pet, only turned out to be what is shown.
Major let-down~!
