I've been pondering about bedding for the Purple Passion Set.
I looked online, dinged around my linen cabinets. Sifted through my material hoard and found these~ I have 9, large, crazy quilt blocks that I made last year out of old prom dresses picked up at flea sales and old silk ties from the thrift store.
They are 'colorful,' but they are 'high dollar' looking ~ although, the pics don't do them justice because my house is so dark and it's overcast outside...
They are made from satin, silk & velvet. But, they are dark - a lot of black velvet in them...
But, there is also a lot of purple, violet and gold in them too~!
The beauty part of it, is that I have a whole bolt of the center material. It's a rayon blend that looks and feels like velvet. I got it at Walmart on clearance one day for $10, for a whole bolt and it has that deep, violet purple that matches the Purple Passion Set
(=
I also have a whole bunch of these window scarves I picked up at a thrift store for $12. I think I have 6 of them? And, they're 14' long~!
A lot of dark purple in these too...
They will be pretty on the window and as pillows and a throw for the end of the bed~!
There is also the possibility of being 'really destructive' and whacking apart the purple crushed velvet bedspread that came with the set and incorporating it into everything too...
Yep, I can be that destructive!
Anybody wondering what the hell I'm doing here should check out the Long Distance Shabby Room Redo me and my best friend pulled off. It started out much the same way. A bunch of crazy fabric, a wild imagination, no fear of scissors and a sewing machine to pull it all together. And, a few back and forth 'if it fits, it ships' parcels between UT and WI...
I think, I can make this work...
And do it for under $50~!
And, make it look elegant, fancy and pretty, not too sexy ~ lol
Remember, this is a room for my granddaughters, not a romantic bedroom...!
Some of you might be thinking I'm Crazy~
Well, I really am~!
But, I also have a really wild imagination and love busy patterns put together for custom bedding...
Should I go for it?
A simple patchwork type quilt with the velvet bedspread incorporated into it, edge the quilt blocks with the fabric from Wally World and use the Wally World fabric for the quilt back and then, just continue from there?
Worst case scenario, if it doesn't match, I can start over and still have a really custom, awesome, bedroom set for somewhere else???
I think I should get to it~!!!
But, I would also love your opinions first...
Wait a minute~!!!
I have these too...
A bunch of vintage, linen, monogrammed table napkins~!
I think I should incorporate some of these too. I'll need a 'light' colored throw at the end of the bed, to make the tufted bench pop ~ Oh, wow - now, I'm making my own head hurt ~ lol
I think I've got a plan~!!!
(=
Ill have to send you some kind of stripe material in the box im collecting for you so you can incorporate into that room.. (make you think of Crazy Pam and her dang stripes..)
ReplyDeleteLuv ya

Definitely "Just Crazy" ~ lol
DeleteFriggin' quilt is giving me fits... I don't think this is the one for the purple room. It's a really cute quilt, but there's just not enough purple in it to do what I want~ I'm actually thinking gingham on this quilt would be cute to put it together, but certainly NOT to use in the Purple Room ~ lol
So, another quilt will go in the stash and heaping pile. Will keep my Tiny feet warm in the winter...
Yes, my head is down on my desk in shame. Currently regrouping this redo in my mind...
I'm thinking a custom quilt set is going to have to wait until I can get up North to Provo, or something and find a better selection of purple material versus anything available around here. Such a limited selection in the hinterland~ Boo...~
