I ran into these quilt blocks over the weekend that I made last year sometime...
I was goofing with different 'crazy quilt' techniques and during the process I figured out I'm not very good at embroidery. It's a craft that must get better with practice? I just don't seem to have the time, so I only got a couple completed.
Anyway, I set them out and thought I would make them into pillows today, before they got lost in the shuffle again...
I used a couple of linen napkins from the thrift store for the backs...
They have beautiful detailing and only cost me a quarter each...
I pulled out some crocheted cotton ribbon I had in my stash for the edging...
The middles of the quilt blocks were vintage, framed, embroidery bits from the thrift store that I tore out of their frames and 'crazy quiltted' around to make some quilt blocks...
I stuffed them with some filling out of a big pillow from the thrift store...
They turned out cute~!

And, if 'flipped over,' the backs are really pretty, if I ever need cream colored throw pillows...
At least now I'll always know where those quilt blocks went...
Not so shabby for about an hours time~!
Blessed are the children of the piecemakers,
for they shall inherit the quilts~!
(And, quilted throw pillows...)

These are adorable! I'm having fun looking at your blog and all the pretty things you make! WOW!
ReplyDeleteThese just actually went on a multi-state adventure and they are now in the possession of my older sister. They were her favorite, so I sent them in the mail. Hope she finds a fun place for them.
ReplyDeleteI make this kind of crazy stuff all the time, because it's fun~!
Just old stuff whacked up and re-stitched into something new. Didn't cost me but a few quarters to make.
