Many are the strange chances of the world...

I stopped into the local thrift shop today. Just for the thrill of the hunt...

~I'm still giggling to myself~

For months now I've been looking for a vintage coffee grinder for my kitchen. I've inspected many at antique stores and 2nd hand shops, but the prices have always restrained me from a purchase. Boy, they know what they want for those little gizzies...

Well, today I found one for $6.00 ~ Six dollars is a price I can constitute spending for a new kitchen decor item. Now, I just need to find it a home in here. Where I planned to put one months ago is filled with rustic trinkets and now, I'm in the planning stages for a new location...

And then I found this beauty...
A vintage, chenille bedspread for $4.00. It looks brand new & it's a heavy one. I thought it was a 'standard,' (they put these plastic clips on them at the thrift store, so you can't unfold them there, it's just a shot in the dark at the size until you get home...) Upon further inspection, when placing it in the washer, I believe it's a queen, or possibly a king.
It's HUGE... !

I'm considering using it for a porch swing redo. My cushions on all of my swings (3 of them) are in sad shape and this would be a fun cushion project for one of them, plus tons of yardage left for cute pillows!

And how about this find...
A brand new, quality linen table cloth for $2.00. I'm not particularly fond of pink, but who could resist for a 62" x 70" piece of real irish linen? I wonder how 'tea stained', or 'coffee stained' pink linen would turn out? I'm thinking it might soften and distress this 'boring' color of pink... What do you think?
I'm not sure what it will be, but it will definitely be repurposed into something. It's a beautiful piece of textile for the price~!

And then there was this linen dishcloth for $0.25. Fringed linen is definitely one of my favorites and not a mark, or stain on it. This one has an added bonus too - really fine embroidery, plus it matches my kitchen~
This one makes me feel special for a quarter...

Tomorrow, it will get ironed...

I'm getting the impression that someone must have cleaned out Grandmas closet over the weekend and donated it to the local DI. Monday's are always a fabulous day to visit our local thrift store. Monday's are when I find some of my best treasures.

No progress on the patio's today ~ darn...
But, a great day nonetheless...

The expected always happens...

Now, the unexpected ~ that's where the fun lies~!

  1. Me, I love pink, it is happy to me. And Irish linen! I can't believe someone just gets rid of these things.
