Patio progress...

I admit it...
I'm always completely SHOCKED at how much he can get done in one day...!

They didn't even start this project until 1:30 this afternoon because he had a culvert to put in this morning on a farm. These pics are about 6 hours worth of work. They AMAZE ME~!!!

It helps that we had an end dump full of sand leftover from the horse corral. And, it makes a difference that the man-child has owned a concrete and construction company for years, so he has all the compactors and stuff in his shop. And, it helps that he operates a backhoe like an extension of his own arms. And, it helps that he's the hardest working man I've ever met. But, I'm still always shocked at how fast he can move when he wants something done...

This was all just a thought yesterday and that back yard was just weeds.
Well, here's the progress. When finished, it measures out at 360 sq. feet of patio~!

He brought the backhoe around the house and cut out the dirt where the patio will be placed. Then he brought over the compactor and compacted the dirt...

He watered it down and compacted it some more...
(That's the Man-Child on the right...)

Then, they put a planter along the base of the house for the climbing roses.

He brought in a couple of buckets of sand for a sand base for the patio.
He watered it down and compacted the sand...

They started laying the pavers there on the left (the man-child and a friend)...
Two have been placed in this pic, with 358 more to go~!

That is ALOT of pavers to carry and place...
I carried and stacked and they crawled around placing them.

Then, he brought in more sand and shoveled on top of the pavers and I was in charge of moving it around with the broom, to fill the cracks, in between packing pavers...

There are pavers placed under all that sand~!

As they were moving around the corner for the hot tub pad, I carried the edging pavers over and lined them up for placement tomorrow...

They have about 50 more to place around the house for the hot tub pad and then get the edging on and it's done... I thought it would take through the week.
Nope~ apparently, they were inspired to complete it in record time for some reason...

I'm now trying to talk him into an awning like this for over the patio~
I think he's going to go for it~!

And, I am THRILLED that the patio is so close to finished~!
