Vintage Pillow Shams...

I  rode with the Man-Child on the semi last Friday to Cedar City, Utah. On our way back home, he stopped in Beaver, UT and let me browse and peruse the antique store there.I didn't even know Beaver had an antique store until a few weeks ago. I never make it to that side of town, I always turn to go to the cheese factory before the antique store...

Upstairs in this old house bedroom, I found these beautiful vintage pillow shams. They're in excellent condition.

They are a beautiful pattern and a nice old ecru color that matches nearly anything I want to put them with.

The little tag inside said, "Dry Clean Only," so of course I ran home and shoved them in the washer to soak and then, I washed them and hung them up to drip dry.

No, I wasn't going to pay to dry clean a set of old pillow shams that only cost me `Five Bucks' - Pretty neat find for a few dollars.

Just when I think I have haorded enough crocheted, fringed and lace and linen bedding, another beauty pops up and comes home with me. Gosh, even those crocheted burgundy throw pillows were only $3 at a yard sale.

They are pretty and there was nothing that happened by washing them, except that now they're clean...
(=

And how do you like that burgundy bed skirt?

Well, it's a twin velvet/poly blend bedspread I acquired for $1 and I just cut it in half, hemmed it and tucked it in between my matress and platform.

I wonder if the Man-Child feels like a duck in a new pond every time he gets home because I change the bedding in this room so much?

Do you think men even notice such things?

This was Saturday and she's already re-adorned another color...
I need to join bed covers anonymous, or something. I have such issues~!

Psst...
If you are an antique'r - check the closets in the old antique stores if allowed.
(The antique stores in the old houses)
That's where I seem to find all my crocheted treasures~

Plotting a bedroom recolor...

I just can't take this 'blush,' 'brownish,' 'camelish,' whatever color this is any longer...

If I could move mountains ~ well big furniture myself, it would be DONE~!

Tell me what you see...

What color do you think would be pretty in here?

Ivory, cream, white, taupe, beige...

I'm leaning toward an ivory color, with a brown base pigment?

With bright white trim?

I HATE the color it is, but I want to get it right...

What about the color of this taupe'y crocheted coverlet?

Or, even lighter, like the ivory colored lace throw on the left?

The 'soon to be' new color has to match Russian Pine and the burgundy / wine color in the rug...

And, remember my deep, deep, window seats caused by the walls in this old house being 2' thick?

I'm thinking of a window seat cushion, something like this perhaps?

Made out of white linen, or perhaps just simple white sheets?

(The pic is off Houzz.com, but I have no link. If someone comes across the link, I would like to give credit where credit is certainly due, please send it along...)

I have a 'funky' closet corner I rarely show...

It has mirrored closet doors and a big space between the top of the closet and the ceiling...

To make it a statement, I'm thinking something like this?
Perhaps, some old windows above the closet, to hide the funky space that stands out?

(This pic was emailed to me by a friend. If anybody is familiar with a link, please provide it, so I can give credit back to the originating source...)

I also have a beautiful, vintage chair in my room ~
Right now, it's sort of housing the dvd player and surround sound ~ ey, yey, yey...
I would love some completion, some organization in my room soon.

Cross your fingers that my wish of a beautiful, recolored, bedroom will soon come to fruition.

I just need help moving all of the big furniture soon...

=(

And, this is one of the new crocheted coverlets I got at the antique store the other day ~~~

It's beautiful, but I haven't really found it a home just yet...

How do you see my finished bedroom???

I need your ideas...

Vintage, linen, pillow covers...

I picked up a 'Sweet' set of vintage, linen, pillow covers at the antique store yesterday...

Who could resist?

The tag says; "Pair of Pillow cases - need edge finished - soiled - $10.00"
Soiled meant one of the folded seams had a rusty stain on it...

They didn't cost me $10 because I bought a couple other things and she discounted them to $6 for me, when we squared up at the checkout...

The unfinished edge said, "Paragan Needle Crafts"

I trimmed off the stamp, around the cut work, to crochet a fancy edge and complete the set.

I even used a skein of 'vintage' crochet cotton...

They turned out beautiful and only took a couple of hours to complete...

They're a wonderful, soft, taupe linen...

I sprayed the few, little stain 'soiled' spots with my favorite stain remover from Home Depot called "Folex".
I like it because it is enzyme based and doesn't hurt the delicate old fabrics.

Folex works on EVERYTHING~!

They are soaking in hot water in the washer with a few drops of dawn dish soap as I'm writing this...

I'm anxious to see them on my bed soon...

I also purchased two, antique crochet coverlets that will be in a future blog post...

So stay tuned~!

Lacemaker Prayers...

Guide my hands with speed and grace
To weave the intricacies of this lace.
Let the bobbins weave with ease
To create a pattern that will please.

Let there be Love in its creation
And give it Artistry in its inspiration.
May special Care keep the threads from breaking
And give me Energy for its making.

Allow this lace to bring joy and pleasure
And give to others a lifelong treasure.

I rolled over in bed this morning to this sight...

A heaping mound of beautiful old lace piled in my bedroom window next to this candelabra...

I had been rummaging through my lace hoard the day prior, piled it all in the window and moved on to other things.

I'm glad I didn't get it put away... It was a wonderful sight to wake up to this morning...

I love old lace and I've found the secret to keeping the threads pliable and soft is to use it often.

Lord, let me grow old like beautiful lace, cherished and treasured and cared for with grace...

Linen Napkin Quilt ~ Bedroom Set...

It's crazy what evening boredom can do...

Yes, I was bored a couple weeks ago, so I dug through my material stash. I drug out some linen, monogrammed table napkins, a few yards of really thick flannel I got on clearance for $2.59... Two polyester banquet tablecloths, a linen, monogrammed, table runner and a set of vintage lace curtains received from Wisconsin...

Just for the pure excitement of getting away with it~!

A Cutting Edge Story...

Two packages arrived, right before Christmas with a return address of WI~

I'm always very excited to receive something from the State of Wisconsin. The neatest things travel from there. They start out in an 'If It Fits, It Ships' box and they make a 1500 mile journey en' route. It always amazes me that it's even possible to send something that far, that fast...

This, my blog friends is, "A Cutting Edge Story" of the ability of the U.S. Postal Service, to get something from Point A, to Point B in just a couple days. The logistics of it is just AMAZING...

In this instance, arrived a bunch of beautiful, vintage, lace curtains, some jeans and a wonderful surprise.

Wrapped up in all that lace and all those jeans were these Awesome, Vintage, Goodies~!

Merry Christmas & Happy Birthday Jen~!
Complete with a warning "not to shave my legs with them."

Who would send such a fun parcel in the mail?
Well, someone's best friend, for sure...

Thank You Pam~!

The Mother of Pearl Dip Pens and the Vintage Calligraphy Book will definitely sit on a beautiful, antique, pine desk I'm still searching for. That will be in my 'future' living room / stair case addition.

And, the Vintage Straight Razors will go in some kind of shadow box in the soon to be finished, bathroom remodel...

I'm pretty sure some of those pleated, vintage lace curtains that arrived will go in the big bedroom window upstairs, when I get stairs to the upstairs someday. And, well, the other 'flat' lace curtains I'm contemplating incorporating into a quilt I intend to finish, as soon as this bathroom remodel is complete.

I'm not sure how a person says, "Thank You" for such wonderful treasures? If you were closer than a 22 hours drive, I would just hug you and pour you a drink!

~This is an Awesome Christmas / Birthday Gift ~

Thank You my dear 'Best Friend'...
I LOVE IT~!

And for Heaven Sake...
I will someday find something to return to WI that's just as Awesome.
I must admit ~ I'm enjoying the hunt, so be patient with this blonde... lol
