Turn your Vintage Linens into Linen Pillows...

You must have a little stash of Grandma's embroidered,
or damask linens you don't know what to do with...

Embroidered, monogrammed, or just linen napkins?

Don't we all have a few stacks of those just sitting in a drawer somewhere?

Perhaps, you have linen cabinets full ~ like I do?
(Sssshhhh, don't tell anyone I'm a hoarder...)

Maybe, you just like soft, luxurious things and you're cheap like me and bring them home from the thrift stores for pennies?

Maybe, you want to figure out something to do with them, to use them more?

They are easy to turn into pillows. You could just turn them inside out and sew the edges together, or put a couple of linen napkins together and sew them, or just crochet around the edges of a couple of table cloths...

You could use lace, vintage trim, crocheted edging, it doesn't matter. Turning them into pillows will give them a new life. It also gives your bedrooms some high dollar bling~!

This beautiful embroidered table cloth only cost me $1...

I just folded it in half and crocheted around the edges, stuffing it before the stitching was complete. The stuffing is actually out of an old hotel pillow I picked up in bulk for $2 each. I just bring them home and let them soak in hot water and bleach overnight and then finish drying. That's way cheaper than the stuffing from the store. The crocheted cotton I picked up at another thrift shop for a $0.25. There was enough on the skein to complete the project bringing the cost of this linen embroidered pillow to $3.25 and an evening's time crocheting on the trim.

What a wonderful way to enjoy all of those old linens you have stored away -
Cheaper than any throw pillow from Walmart, or any homegoods type of store in a strip mall, don't you think?

I can't even imagine what a large size, hand embroidered linen pillow would cost brand new, can you?

Using your vintage linens give everything an old, worn, timeless look, I think...

Don't hurt yourself running for your Cedar Chest to see what you can repurpose for the
'Guest Room'...

Vintage, antique & vintage... Oh my heart melts...

I want to share a few 'recent' acquisitions...
Everything new to me is an 'acquisition~ I don't know why?

My dearest friend on the planet sent me this GORGEOUS crocheted table cloth one day in an 'if it fits, it ships' package from Wisconsin. It had some other trinkets in the box I need to photograph and share!

This was given to her on her wedding day and stayed stored away, until she found out about my obsession with lace and all things delicately~crocheted and well, I squealed a little when I opened the box...
It now resides in my bedroom, draped over the side of the "Ooohh, la, la chair"...

And, those cute little French boxes, acquired not long ago because I couldn't resist~!

----------------------------------

Then, there's this little find ~~~

This is an 1880's celludoid, antique photo album, complete with the old, old, pictures~!
It looks beautiful on my dresser... It was a trade, so it didn't cost me anything and I am proud to own this piece of history. I just wished I knew who the pics belonged to. I'm sure their ancestors would love to have them...

Very intricately made -
So intricate and fragile from age that the left side of the floral is missing. But, a treasure nonetheless...

The clasp is just beautiful ~ You don't find things made like this very often
The velvet is in rough shape on the back, but she is old & that just adds to her charm...

The album is full of pictures ~ here's a little taste~!

(I've never seen one with a collage like this one ~ very unique!)

I think the photo of the children is my favorite...

---------------------------------

And then, there is this sweet little number ~ complete with the "Shabby Shawl"...
~A vintage dress form~

My better half calls her "Betty"
(I think she needs a lace corset)

She was part of a "trade" of good also, so she didn't cost me anything -
She'll reside in one of the bedrooms upstairs, or in a future sewing room someday...

There's a reason I call myself "Lace Crazy"...

You are about to get a taste of my sometimes 'uncontrolable' obsession...

Ok ~ truth is, I'm a lace & curtain hoarder...
I kept it hidden for a long, long time. But, one day, my better half ran into a box of curtains in the garage. And yes, it was a BIG BOX. Then another box, then he opened an old steamer truck in my corner and found more curtains (he doesn't know it yet, but there's a huge, old, cedar chest out there just brimming with it)... Hell, I even had lace and curtains hid out in the pantry in a box. And, in my office I had boxes and boxes of lace and curtains and doillies.... And well, in every closet and every nook & crany.
I think every box with a lid in my house was full of lace & curtains. He had just never noticed before. And he had 'assumed' it was varying household junk. Nope ~ it was ALL lace & curtains, especially LACE CURTAINS~!

You know the great thing about my obsession???
It fits anywhere & everywhere. It's easy to hide... I'm not even going to discuss all the 'space bags' full, or where I have them ~ Ha~!

Honestly, I've supplied 4, or 5 houses with curtains - if you need curtains, I'm the woman to go to~!
(Sick, aint it...) I have enough doillies to probably make 8, or 10, crazy quilts ~ I am ill...

They say the road to recovery is admiting you have a problem. Well, I have a problem and I don't intend to recover from it. I LOVE LACE! And, that's the reason he nicknamed me "Lace Crazy." The good news is though ~ I've got him in on the action!

He doesn't pass a yardsale where he sees lace that he doesn't stop and buy it for me. Now, that's "True Love." My best friend says he's just feeding my addiction, but I don't mind. I enjoy it. It excites me~!
=)

Here's a little taste of my not-so-secret-anymore obsession...

A great haul of cutwork & crocheted curtains...
$12 from the antique shop (even though they're not antique...)
I think, these will all be pillowcases next week...

Burgundy, crocheted bedspread & 2 shams
$8 from the thrift store ~ I'm in Luv~!

~Lace & more Lace~
(Yes, it piles down one side of my sectional)
$22 worth from the thrift store ~ just yummy~!

Yes, I left all of this piled on my couch and I petted them for 2 days~
I am Lace Crazy!!!
