The Old, Wooden Toolbox is a complete charade~!

I picked it up at the thrift store today for a buck ~ yes, $1...

It looked like this when I bought it and yes Virginia, it is made out of "particle board"...

And it has a plastic, pvc pipe handle...

I want to use it in my kitchen, so I used the mint green shade of paint from the wall there and some cranberry acrylic paint and used the same process I used to redo This Bench...

Don't freak out on me yet... 

It has a great outcome, obviously... But, this is what it looked like with the fresh paint on...

Yes, I wear sunglasses when I use these bright colors to paint with...!

Because it's hard to look at when it's in 'The Process'...

When the paint was dry, I took it outside and sanded it with a really rough grit sandpaper and my palm sander. I took a lot of the paint off in places, but especially the edges and then I went over it with an ebony, minwax stain...

I Love the outcome ~ !

It turned out exactly how I envisioned it would and it matches my kitchen, plus it looks Old. That was my intent... 

The roughness and texture of the particle board gave it a really unique look and I lucked out that the paint and stain stuck to the pvc pipe ok too...

Pretty neat makeover for A Buck and about an hours time~!

It will be fun on the kitchen table, or in the kitchen window for Autumn & Winter decor...

Duncan Phyfe style drop leaf table and chair redo ~ in the planning stage...

Of course I neglected to get pics of the little beauty, because I am a "dumb shiat"...
But, it's in one of my best friends garage, so it's safe and sound until the big day.

What I'm trying to decide is color...
My poor youngest daughter is stuck with my 'old lady' kitchen at my barn house. She has pleaded with me to redo it. I did redo it, to look like this ~! (ha, ha...)

I just simply don't have the time to strip all of that gorgeous, satin, floral wall paper off the walls this year. Besides, I just don't think she realizes that under all of that, is a disaster that needs redone, inherited from the previous owner. Hence the reason it's covered in wall paper - lol

Here is what I have...
(See, I've always been a grandma at heart, even before I was truly a grandma~!)

Yes, I tore out the old dishwasher and threw it in the weeds ~ I detest dishwashers. I have two dishwashers; my right hand and my left hand. And really, I enjoy doing dishes by hand for some reason ~ go figure...
And, what do you do when you take out a dishwasher and the 'man-child' never gets the time to plug the hole? Why you throw up a curtain, of course ~ lol

That new, huge, fridge peeking through the right of the pic will someday be in this old house where I currently reside - again, the 'man-child' has had no time to move it up here and my current little white one down to my barn house... So, when done, this old barn house kitchen will have a little white fridge...

And, hopefully, new wood flooring~~~

The deal is, my little Grandson "Journey" is a demon with those rolling chairs - they have to go. And, truth be told, I WANT MY ANTIQUE DINING TABLE ~ NOW~!

I've been patient because I don't want to leave her 'dining room table-less...' But, I love that old, antique, bread making table. It was my first furniture redo 20+ years ago and I could never part with it...

Oh, notice that 1950 something O'Keefe and Merritt, double oven, avocado, green range?
It is my sweet baby. It broke down once and I waited 7 months for a repair and I boohoo'd and cried everyday until somebody could figure out how to fix her. Finally, a great repairman came up with a retro-fit to get it rocking and baking again. The man-child offered to buy me a brand new range. I balked at the thought. I wouldn't even go shopping ~ no way, not happening. I'm not parting with my old green range ~ ever~!

Notice the avocado green counters? He even offered to buy me new counter tops and redo my kitchen. "Are you crazy?" I asked him. I loved this kitchen in all her avocado green glory~!

And, the old green range is only at this kitchen still, because I can't figure out how to make her fit at the 'new, old house' I'm redoing. She is my baby girl. And, she makes the GREATEST BREAD ON EARTH... The vintage range I'm currently cooking with makes mediocre bread - this old green range is well seasoned from 60+ years of baking and I miss her, every time I put bread in the oven... )=

So, here's the wall I need to match the old drop leaf table and chairs to... I think white will be too bright. Maybe, she won't need a redo? She might look great on this wall the wood color that she is.
Maybe, I'll give it a "French" look?
What color table would you put against this wall?
(Sorry, my sweet, youngest daughter ... You're just stuck with the 'old lady kitchen' until such time - another year - when I have time for a redo!)

But, while I was dinging around, perusing some pics and used furniture sites, I came across this unique, cute and fun dining room table. Although, it won't match my 'old lady kitchen, it was worth a highlight on the blog...

A gal named Lisa has this "One of Kind" dining room set for sale in Southern Utah ~ it is ADORABLE...
I fell in love when I first seen her pics and she gave me permission to post them on my blog ~ thanks Lisa. I hope this beauty finds a worthy home soon...

And, no Amber - I'm not redoing my old floral kitchen into flags this year, although, it would be cute~!!!

I think anybody with a patriotic spirit would fall in love with this set upon first sight. If not Lisa, somebody done a very good job on this beauty. I love original furniture redo's and this one is "To die for..."

Any suggestions on the redo of an old, drop leaf dining table set redo to match my old lady barn kitchen above would be greatly appreciated~!

Distressed, Chippy, Rocking Chair Redo~!

Spent most of yesterday finishing the Vintage Rocking Chair...

It turned out really cute~!

Almost too cute for a porch...

There was something spilled on it ~ that soaked into the wood from a prior life...

Because of the stain, it turned out really "chippy" & "distressed"...

Sometimes, an oops works to the next owners advantage~!

Not too "Shabby" for a ten dollar purchase...

One more time...

Worrying is like a rocking chair, 

it gives you something to do, but gets you nowhere~!

Vintage Rocking Chair - my next redo...

I picked this cute little number up yesterday for $10...

She needs a few glue jobs, but nothing major. 

I love her petite'ness and her rounded arms... 

 She's a smaller rocker - not overpowering like some...

She has old, brass bolts that are patina'd from age - 

Another feature that was attractive to me...

There is a lot of detail on her that will hold some stain well.

Once she's distressed, her details will really make her pop! 

I'm going to redo her to go on our old, wooden deck that will be built off the West side of the garage when it's finished. 

I have an old, nickel plated, Majestic wood burning cook stove that she will sit beside.

 I have a couple of  wood adirondack chairs for the other side of the porch, so I'm sticking with a 'wood' theme for that porch, for exterior porch furniture. Besides, who could resist her for a 'Ten Dollar Bill'?

I would like her to look something like this when finished, only I'm not sure of the color.

I know, I don't want red & green... But this red and green pic is darling~!

I'm considering using an antique white - really distressing her and then going over her with a dark walnut, or jaccobean stain?

Any ideas to help me achieve this look - color wise? Perhaps, maybe, an antique white with a dove grey paint and then distress and stain?

Help me out here...

The vintage shell back patio chairs have been redone...

I have no idea where to put them yet and well, it's just way too HOT outside to work it out right now.
It's 102 here right now and, "I'm mmmeeellltttiiinnnnggggggggggggg....."

I'm reay for snow ~ jeeze...

I would settle for rain though please???

All these beautiful, redone, patio chairs and it's TOO HOT outside to enjoy them right now...

These vintage shell back chairs received a coat of primer and a fresh new coat of 'antique white' paint. And, of course some custom, homemade cushions...

The interior cushion is made out of a canvas, painting drop cloth that's plastic lined. I got it on clearance at Ace Hdwe. one day for $2, so what the hey... The cushion slip cover is out of the same outdoor material as my last Vintage Patio Chair Redo The neat thing about doing the inside cushion out of a plastic lined canvas drop cloth is that when you stand up, the cushion puffs back up full of air and the stuffing inside the cushion won't get wet. The slip covers can be thrown in the wash, another plus...

And, the after...

I think they turned out wonderful~!

And, they match all the rest of the patio furniture in the yard...

I went with 'antique white paint' so they don't burn anybody sitting down in them, when they're in direct sun.

I put little 'ties' on the sides too, so the wind doesn't blow the cushions away.

You know how Utah is ~ It has 3 seasons; Wind, July & Winter...

~We take precautions for the "wind" here~

The chairs cost me $6 for the set at the thrift store -

 They took me 1 can of primer and 2 cans of spray paint = Approx. $10

1 canvas painters drop cloth = $2

2 yards of material @ $5 a yard = $10

TOTAL COST ~ $28

Plus a bit of my time...

Vintage, Shell Back, Patio Chairs...

I admit it... I admit it... I admit it...

I am a furniture hoarder~!

(Recovering from this affliction is never going to be an option, ya know?)

I was at the thrift store the day before yesterday looking around, killing some time, hunting for treasure and they set these out...

Who could resist?

They hadn't even marked them yet and I was holding onto them for dear life. I wasn't going to risk someone else taking them home... I asked an attendant how much and he marked them for me. Would you believe he marked them for $6.00 for the set? As soon as the tag was on, I had them load them in my truck... These were mine and I was making a point of letting the other customers know that they were spoken for.

In case you are doubting me and my great, thrifty, shopping talents...

Proof~!!!

Of course the primer is drying and they're in the process of being redone!

I have to admit though... I done an outdoor furniture count ~ don't laugh at me, I have issues~!

New acquisition - 2 shell back chairs. Plus, I have the 2 vintage ones I just redone in a previous blog post here: Vintage Patio Chair Redo... I have 3 yard swings, a full patio set out front with a couch, 2 chairs and 2 rocking chairs... I still have 2 adirondack chairs in my garage, 2 fold up chairs, 2 more stationary metal frame patio chairs and maybe, a dozen fold up outdoor chairs...

I may have more outdoor furniture than I have dining room chairs ~ ?

Ohhhh... I got issues~!

Lets not do anymore counting of furniture. I just refuse to address my addicition right now...

The good thing is, there's always a place to sit in the yard~!
