A Peek at My Week ~ 9-05-14 through 09-12-14...

Come on in and take a "Peek at my Week"...

It's always crazy around here~~~

It started off with Charlie (of course)...
Really, this is the greatest 'odd' animal alive.
He is AWESOME~!

I went over to feed and he lifted up his head, right in my face and this is it ~
Charlie in Drag...
Really Charlie?

I had taken my beet peelings over the night prior and dumped them in with Charlie, the sheep and the chickens and think it's safe to assume by the pictures that Charlie had a great helping of the beets.
(=

And, he was proud of it~!

~He has always been an in-your-face-kind of Charlie~

A few days later, I was in the house and Oscar, my black and white cat, jumped up on a little table by the kitchen window.
~He has never done this before~

He was 'Meow'ing' so loud. He was upset. I knew something was wrong.
I was scared he was hurt, or something had happened to his brother Oliver.

I opened the kitchen door and he took off toward the garden.
He stopped, looked back at me and started 'Meow'ing' really loud again. It was as if he was saying, "Follow me Mom..."

So, I followed him, quickly...

He ran through the garden and jumped up on the block wall.
I climbed up the ladder I have on the wall, to water the horses and this is what I saw.

Well, "Hello Saddler..."

How did you get in the cement irrigation head box?
*Shaking my head...*

He wasn't hurt, because he was rubbing his butt up and down the cement when I spied him.

Oliver - the other cat was visiting Saddler and must have sent Oscar to the window to get "Mom"

The 'Man-Child' thinks my white horse Ray had something to do with this.
He said, he's pretty sure, they were ~

"Horsing Around"

We used a few rail road ties to build a ramp and he walked right out. He was' none the worse for the wear' either. Just a few scratches on one leg - thank heavens`!

Then, two of the "Grand Littles" came to visit for a bit and drop off a couple of lambs.
While their Mom and Dad borrowed our horse trailer, the little's got to stay and help Gramma do chores.

All of my Grandies are "Expert Chicken Feeders"

Now that the youngest, "Swayzee" is finally walking, she gets to help too...

Sister put some chicken feed in her hand and she had to watch for a minute, but she figured out what to do with it. You sprinkle it on the ground and the chickens come running.

Well, what a fun thing to learn when you're One!

Chickens are NEAT~!

(Can you see the purple arrow pointing to Charlie stalking Swayzee through the fence?)

Charlie is keeping a close "eye" on her...

Charlie is a very gentle alpaca and he loves when the grandkids are around.

That brown hen on the fence is an "Americana"
She's new here...

Saige was watching her close. She has "Whiskers" ~ feathers that stick out on her cheeks and a feather that sticks straight down her chin. It looks like she has a mustache and beard.

Saige says, "Gwama - that is a silly chicken. She has a mustache and she looks stupid. When I get my own chickens, I don't want that kind. I don't want mine to look stupid."

~Even Charlie was perplexed at that statement. Just look at his expression!~

My dear daughter, when you get Saige and Swayzee their own chickens - please don't get "Stupid Looking" Americana hens... he, he...

And that my friends is a
"Peek at my Week"~!

Cold Weather Company...

On chilly autumn days, I love to sit outside with a warm cup of coffee and watch the leaves fall to the ground. It's that 'comfort' time of the year... An old chair, an old wool blanket and a quiet morning~~

Early afternoon, my Saturday was blessed with
"Cold Weather Company"...

I got a visit from my youngest daughter "Amber" and my grandson "Journey"... They brought some treats for the chickens. Journey loves to help do chores. The chickens are some of his dearest friends and I'm blessed that they're all so friendly, even the rooster Sammy is gentle with the grand kids...

Then, we walked over to water the sheep, my alpaca "Charlie" and the horses...

Charlie (the alpaca) was the only creature in the upper pasture and he came walking over for a visit and a fresh drink of water. Mainly, he's just a nosy alpaca. He does his job well and checks out anything and everything that crosses onto his side of the fence...

Then, a walk down the lane to find the sheep -
I have a few ewe's ready to give birth soon, so I'm keeping a close eye on them. The grandkids will be happy for more "baby yammies" (lambs) this fall...

It was a beautiful "Autumn" Saturday that began with 'Frosted Windowpanes' and a 'Warm Fire'.

Just a day with the cutest Grandson...

I got to babysit my little grandson Journey for a couple hours today...

He showed up early in his pajamas, ditched the shoes and the pj bottoms ~ took a few toys in on Grandma's big bed to watch Mickey Mouse. My bed is his favorite place in the house. He even has a favorite pillow~!

Isn't this just a "Cute Lil' Face..."

When Mickey Mouse got old, he stood in the kitchen window watching the humming birds for quite a spell...

And, playing with the antique coffee grinder in the kitchen window. He thinks it's fascinating to turn that handle and listen to those gears. It entertains him for long stretches...

Then it was off to find more toys...

The 'Man-Child' bought a toddler hard hat, a toddler fire hat and a toddler safari hat one day because he knew the grandkids would have fun playing with them. I knew it wasn't going to be good for Grandma~!

See, both my 2 year old grandkids nominated the safari hat as grandma's hat. Whenever they're around they force me to wear it. Yes, for hours and hours...

My grandson Journey wears the fire hat, my granddaughter Saige wears the hard hat and yep~ Grandma has to keep the safari hat on. All Day~!

At one point, I was on the phone with a shipping customer (you guessed it, in my safari hat...) The hat came tumbling off my head, crashed onto the keyboard and made a heck of a ruckus. The little one yells, "Uh Oh Grandma," and then dives onto my lap to put my hat back on ~ causing me to gasp as his knees went into my stomach.

My shipping customer asks, "Are you ok Jen?..." It was that loud...

I explained to him that my plastic safari hat fell off my head and my grandson was currently putting it back up there. Of course he laughed and telling the truth got me the rate for the truck I was negotiating... Just being honest~!

I was thrilled when I talked Journey into wearing "Grandma's" hat ~

It looks much cuter on him anyway...

Oh, the innocent fun of being 2 years old...

And, going on safari...

I swear, should I ever come across a 4th hat, a bonnet or something, I'm definitely grabbing it so "Grandpa" has a hat too~!
(Yes as payback~!)
(=

Could there be a funner day?

Slow ~ Grandparents at play~!

What an amazing age ~ 2 years old...
I have a Grandson, "Journey" who was born 4 months before my Grandaughter, "Saige" - they're cousins, but we refer to them as the "Turbo Twins..."

This year is a really fun year for the 'Turbo Twins' because they are mobile (on their own feet) and the world is a wonderland. There is also an addition to the 'turbo twins' little circle ~ Saige's new little sister Swayzee. Our newborn Grandaughter, "Swayzee" just watches the two year olds playing, very calmly, as if she's soaking it all in and making notes for when she is 2...

These 'turbo twin' grandbabies of ours have been close to each other since they were both born... Our girls live close to each other and close to us, which is a blessing~!

(Journey was 4 months old and Saige was a month old in this pic)

Journey was 7 months old and Saige was 4 months old in this pic...

They have spent alot of time together through their 2 years of growing...

The great discovery of mobility started to happen last fall - about the 'bow hunt' time. The 'turbo twins' went camping with their momma's and discovered a bit of 'outdoor' freedom...

It has progressed through this Spring with a great big discovery of the outdoor world. Both grandkids love to be outside. Through the weeks as we've been finishing our yard, they have been discovering it at every stage. My little 'boohoo' Saige made the great discovery of the 'puddle rock' by the hot tub last week when she came to visit grandma...

I had been watering the flowers before the girls (Saige & Swayzee) came to spend the afternoon with me and some water had puddled on the big rock step. Saige was on it. Her shoes came off, a few rocks went in the water and she was content here for a couple hours. Every time the puddle would start to dry up, she would ask me for more "WaWa..."

Ms. Swayzee just lays around enjoying the sunshine...

Yesterday, we had a Birthday party here for my youngest daughter and Saige got the opportunity to introduce her favorite cousin Journey (the other tubo twin) to her puddle rock...

The discovery of water started last weekend when the girls took the little ones to the lake...

It has progressed to Grandma purchasing a cute little sink toy at the thriftstore for $4. This cute sink toy has been my greatest thrift store purchase - the 'turbo twins' love it!

From the play sink, we moved around the yard to the back grass and I turned the sprinkler on for the little cuties. What fun~!

Once the clothes were soaked, they took the clothes off and I went and got their little sink toy and buckets, so they could continue playing in the water...

Our newest addition, "Miss Swayzee Mae" just lays around watching, sleeping and basking in the sunshine. She's just taking it all in, so she knows what she's suppose to do when it's her turn to discover the great outdoors & water...

It has been alot of work getting this yard fixed up for these grandchildren of ours, but it has been so, so, worth it. Every new thing we implement has been done with the grandkids in mind and how much they will enjoy it... It has been a great Spring. With the heat wave we are in the midst of though, here comes Summer~!

Grandchildren are God's way of compensating us for growing old~!
