A Peek at my Week ~ 9-12-14 through 9-19-14...

Come on in & take a "Peek at my Week"...

I went with the 'Man-Child' last Friday to get his semi loaded with super sacks of salt.
While he was strapping down, I was smiling at the contrast between the tiny bobcat and the big yuke sitting in front of us. Blurry pic ~ sorry ~ windshield was dirty...

Honestly, I really wanted to run over, start the yuke and back over the bobcat...
I don't know why...
=D

The salt piles look awesome from the wind and the weather.

The "Highlight" of my week was bringing "Buck" & "Buster" home....

I have been eyeing them down all summer. I have been waiting to see if they would clearance them this Fall. And, they did. I figured if someone bought them before they went on sale, then they weren't meant to come home with me..

Finally, they went on Sale~!

They were reduced in price down to a level I could afford...

They went on sale right before the Man-Child's Birthday, so they were his Birthday Present.
He's the one that named them...

He's also the one that had to figure out how to 'rope them not to break' in the horse trailer, to get them home. The little buggers weigh about 350# each!

They will be incorporated into the 'grand entrance' that's going to be constructed into my garden this Fall, or next Spring. Whenever the 'Man-Child' gets time.

The 'Man-Child' finally has himself a "Matched Team"...

I got a lot of canning finished this week...

Ya, even some "Coors Light"
*big smile!*

Actually, the 'Man-Child's' cousin rides horses every day (he's a retired government trapper) and he came across a campsite that was a mess. He lit a fire to burn the trash and found a 30 pack half full of Coors. He brought it to me last Sunday. He said, "He doesn't know anybody stupid enough to drink Coors, but me"...

No really, home canning makes me really thirsty~!

(I had it sitting here because the cans were dirty, so I washed them and stacked them to dry before I put it in the fridge...

And ya, I'm "stupid enough" to drink Coors Light~!)
~Hey, I drink Keystone too sometimes~
=P
(Yes, that was me sticking my tongue out at you!)

I had a caning jar break in the canner - Bummer...
I HATE those cheap 'good value' Walmart canning jars. I have a few here and when I'm out of the good ones, Kerr, or Ball, I grab a Walmart one. Usually, I lose it in the canner. I just need to throw them all out~!
=(

What a Mess~!

I picked up a 'Butcher Block' table at a yardsale a couple weeks ago for $20.

I intend to turn it into a rolling cart to roll under my counter top where the dishwasher (I never use) currently resides. I was going to pull the dishwasher out myself this week, but I can't figure out how to get it out .
(Ya, I'm blonde Melinda)...

I figure, the 'Man-Child' can put some vintage casters on this and make it a rolling butcher block cart that will tuck away, under the counter, into the dishwasher hole. And, it can hold all of my cast iron pans that are too heavy for these flimsy cupboards in this kitchen too~!

Pretty good snag for $20, huh?

The neighbors cat "Sammy" comes in the morning to visit...

He has developed a habit of coming over to visit me when I'm doing the chores.
As I round the corner by the chickens, the rooster "Cornelius" lets out a 'good morning' and then, Sammy comes running from down the road. At first, my hens tried to chase him off. Now, they go over and tell him "Good Morning".

He loves him a good morning tummy rub...
And doesn't bother the chickens aside from just watching them.
The lead hen there, "Gertrude," I call her 'Gerttie..." is my 'feather puppy'. She follows me and the cat everywhere. She even tries to follow me home sometimes.

Charlie has started to eat laying down again. I don't know why...
I don't think anything is wrong with him, he's just lazy. I'll bet he's laying on a mound of hay he intends to consume later, after everything else has been eaten.

One of my ewe's "Little Daryl" was having an 'in my face' kind of morning.

The 'Man-Child's' brother Daryl gave her to me because he has Dorpers (speckled) hair sheep. mine are St. Croix and all white hair sheep. I'm prejadice - they snuck a white dorper (little Daryl) in on me last year to see if I would notice. Ya, I noticed immediately when she got right in my face. It was perplexing...
I walked back to the house and told the 'Man-Child,' "Someone dropped off a Dorper in my flock..."
He just started laughing - I named her "Little Daryl" that afternoon. She's a really nice ewe, she's just really, really friendly. Like right in your face, friendly.

She 'taxi's' me into the barn every morning to get the eggs. I tease her sometimes and start to go into the barn and then, turn and go the other way and she stand there 'bleating' with me to finish the task at hand and go get the eggs. She has to sniff every egg.
It's a daily ritual...

She would probably really bellow at me if she sees what happens to some of the eggs...
~Yikes ~

You should see what they look like when they break in my hoodie pockets~!

I'm always just an accident waiting for a place to happen...

Have a Wonderful Rest of this Week~!!!

    1. Wait until you see what I intend to do to that butcher block ~lol
It involves an old Monarch Cook Stove... At least it will involve the oven door of an antique Monarch cook stove. I swear, everybody would think I've lost my mind - but the "Man-Child." He was right with me. In fact, he moved the old Monarch over by the shop to get out his torch and chop saw and get cutting and creating. Then, it started to rain - and rain - and rain - and rain ~ ugh...
We'll get it and it will be an awesome "Butch Block Cart" made from an old Monarch Cook stove.
I hope you have a great rest of this week~!
